Global Games: Theory and Applications∗
نویسندگان
چکیده
Global games are games of incomplete information whose type space is determined by the players each observing a noisy signal of the underlying state. With strategic complementarities, global games often have a unique, dominance solvable equilibrium, allowing analysis of a number of economic models of coordination failure. For symmetric binary action global games, equilibrium strategies in the limit (as noise becomes negligible) are simple to characterize in terms of ‘diffuse’ beliefs over the actions of others. We describe a number of economic applications that fall in this category. We also explore the distinctive roles of public and private information in this setting, review results for general global games, discuss the relationship between global games and a literature on higher order beliefs in game theory ∗This paper was prepared for the Eighth World Congress of the Econometric Society (Seattle 2000). Section 3 incorporates work circulated earlier under the title “Private versus Public Information in Coordination Problems.” We would like to thank Hans Carlsson, David Frankel, Josef Hofbauer, Jonathan Levin and Ady Pauzner for valuable comments on the paper, and Susan Athey for her insightful remarks as discussant at the Congress. Morris would like to record an important intellectual debt in this area to Atsushi Kajii, through joint research and long discussions. Morris is grateful for financial support from National Science Foundation grant #9709601. and describe the relationship to local interaction games and dynamic games with payoff shocks.

A review on symmetric games: theory, comparison and applications
Game theory models decision makers' behaviors in strategic situations. Since the structures of games are different, behavior and preferences of the players are different in various types of game. This paper reviews various situations of games. Here, characteristics of some common games are discussed and compared. Specifically, we focus on a group of games called symmetric games including Prison...
متن کاملDynamic system of strategic games
Maybe an event can't be modeled completely through one game but there is more chance with several games. With emphasis on players' rationality, we present new properties of strategic games, which result in production of other games. Here, a new attitude to modeling will be presented in game theory as dynamic system of strategic games and its some applications such as analysis of the clash betwe...
متن کاملBankruptcy Assessment with the Interval Programming and Games Theory
Some of the parameters in issues of the reality world are uncertainty. One of the uncertain problems with the qualitative parameters is economic problems such as bankruptcy problem. In this case, there is a probability of dealing with imprecise concepts including the intervals regarding the official’s viewpoint, organizations’ managers. Accordingly, this article uses the concepts of data envelo...
متن کاملMaximal elements of $mathscr{F}_{C,theta}$-majorized mappings and applications to generalized games
In the paper, some new existence theorems of maximal elements for $mathscr{F}_{C,theta}$-mappings and $mathscr{F}_{C,theta}$-majorized mappings are established. As applications, some new existence theorems of equilibrium points for one-person games, qualitative games and generalized games are obtained. Our results unify and generalize most known results in recent literature.
